FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Junior Estate Agent Level 2 FAQs
How long does the Junior Estate Agent apprenticeship take?
The apprenticeship standard has a typical duration of 8-12 months, excluding the end-point assessment period. At KTA, we normally plan the programme over approximately 12–15 months depending on the apprentice’s starting point, role and individual training plan.
How is the apprenticeship delivered?
KTA delivers the apprenticeship through structured online learning alongside practical development in the workplace. Apprentices receive regular tutor support and apply their learning through their day-to-day role within the property sector.
Do I need to already work for an estate agent?
You need to be employed in a suitable role that allows you to develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours required by the apprenticeship. Junior Estate Agents can work across areas including residential sales, auctioneering and commercial property.
Can an existing employee do this apprenticeship?
Yes. Apprenticeships can be used to develop eligible existing employees as well as people recruited into a new apprenticeship role. The employee’s role must provide suitable opportunities to develop and demonstrate the requirements of the apprenticeship.
Is there an age limit?
There is no general upper age limit for an apprenticeship. Apprenticeships can support people starting their career as well as existing employees developing new skills. Funding and eligibility requirements will be checked before enrolment.
What are the English and maths requirements?
Apprentices aged 16–18 at the start of their apprenticeship who do not already hold suitable equivalent qualifications are required to achieve the relevant English and maths qualifications. For apprentices aged 19 or over, English and maths training up to Level 2 can be funded where they do not already hold suitable equivalents and the employer agrees that it should form part of the training plan. KTA will review this with each apprentice during enrolment.
How is the apprenticeship funded?
The Junior Estate Agent Level 2 apprenticeship currently has a maximum funding band of £4,000. The amount of government funding available and any employer contribution depends on the employer’s and apprentice’s circumstances and the apprenticeship funding rules in place at the apprentice’s start date. KTA will confirm the funding position with the employer before enrolment.
How is the apprenticeship assessed?
Once the apprentice has completed their training and is ready for end-point assessment, they complete two independent assessment methods: a scenario-based task and a professional discussion underpinned by a portfolio of evidence. Both assessment methods are graded Fail, Pass or Distinction.
What will I receive when I complete the apprenticeship?
After successfully completing the programme and end-point assessment, you will achieve the Level 2 Junior Estate Agent apprenticeship and receive your apprenticeship certificate.
Does the apprenticeship link to Propertymark?
Yes. Propertymark was involved in developing the Junior Estate Agent apprenticeship standard. The official standard states that apprentices who successfully complete the apprenticeship may be eligible to apply for student membership of NAEA Propertymark. Propertymark Qualifications is also an approved End-Point Assessment Organisation for the Junior Estate Agent apprenticeship.
Can KTA help employers recruit a new apprentice?
Yes. KTA can support employers looking to recruit a new apprentice as well as employers who want to develop an existing member of staff. Speak to our team about recruitment support and the next steps for starting an apprenticeship.
