At Knights Training Academy, we’ll support you from enrolment through to completion, with dedicated guidance from your tutor, regular progress reviews and access to the resources and support you need throughout your apprenticeship.
Your Apprenticeship Journey
From your first day to your final assessment, we’ll be with you every step of the way.
Every apprenticeship is different, but your journey with Knights Training Academy will follow a clear structure. You’ll combine learning with your day-to-day role, developing the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed for your chosen career.
01 — Enrolment & Initial Assessment
We’ll check your eligibility, previous experience and qualifications, complete your initial assessments and make sure the apprenticeship is right for you and your job role.
02 — Meet Your Tutor
You’ll be introduced to your dedicated tutor, who will explain your programme, agree your starting goals and be your main point of contact throughout your apprenticeship.
03 — Learning & Development
You’ll complete structured learning alongside your job. This can include online learning, tutor sessions, projects, workplace activities and developing new skills with your employer.
04 — Regular Progress Reviews
You, your employer and your tutor will regularly review your progress, celebrate what’s going well and agree your next targets.
05 — Gateway
Once you’ve completed the required learning and you and your employer are confident you’re ready, you’ll move through Gateway and prepare for your End-Point Assessment.
06 — End-Point Assessment
An independent organisation will assess the knowledge, skills and behaviours you’ve developed throughout your apprenticeship.
07 — Achievement & Your Next Step
Once you successfully complete your apprenticeship, you’ll receive your apprenticeship certificate and we’ll help you consider your next steps — whether that’s progressing in your career, taking on more responsibility or moving onto further training.
Learning During Your Apprenticeship
Your apprenticeship combines your job with dedicated learning and development.
You’ll spend most of your time developing skills through your role with your employer, alongside structured training delivered by Knights Training Academy.
Your learning may include:
* One-to-one sessions with your tutor
* Online learning and activities
* Workshops and webinars
* Workplace projects and assignments
* Shadowing and mentoring
* Research and professional development
* Practical activities in the workplace
* Preparation for your End-Point Assessment
Training During Working Hours
Your employer must allow you appropriate time during your normal working hours to complete the training required for your apprenticeship.
This is often referred to as off-the-job training, but it doesn’t mean you need to be away from your workplace. Many activities can take place within your normal working environment, provided they are developing new knowledge, skills or behaviours rather than simply carrying out your usual duties.
Your tutor will work with you and your employer to plan your training and make sure you have the opportunity to develop throughout your programme.
Your Tutor & Progress Reviews
You won’t be doing your apprenticeship alone.
Throughout your apprenticeship, you’ll have a dedicated tutor from Knights Training Academy who will support your learning, monitor your progress and help you stay on track.
You’ll also have regular progress reviews involving you, your employer and your tutor. These are an important part of your apprenticeship and give everyone the opportunity to discuss how things are going.
During your progress reviews, we’ll discuss:
* Your progress towards your apprenticeship
* Knowledge, skills and behaviours you’ve developed
* Training and learning completed
* Your development within the workplace
* Targets for the next review period
* Any areas where you need additional support
* Your wellbeing and personal development
* Your preparation for End-Point Assessment
Need Help Between Reviews?
You don’t need to wait until your next progress review to ask for support.
If you’re struggling with your learning, having difficulties at work, falling behind or simply have a question, contact your tutor as soon as possible.
English & Maths
We’ll make sure you have the English and maths skills you need for your apprenticeship and future career.
As part of your enrolment, we’ll review your existing English and maths qualifications and complete initial assessments where required.
Depending on your age, previous qualifications and apprenticeship requirements, you may need to complete additional English and/or maths learning during your apprenticeship.
How We’ll Support You
If English or maths forms part of your programme, we’ll provide the learning and support you need alongside your apprenticeship, including:
* Initial and diagnostic assessments
* Individual learning activities
* Tutor support
* Resources and practice materials
* Progress monitoring
* Exam preparation where required
Your tutor will explain exactly what applies to you at the beginning of your programme, so you’ll know what you need to complete and why.
Additional Learning Support & SEND
Everyone should have the opportunity to succeed on their apprenticeship.
We understand that every learner is different. If you have a learning difficulty, disability or additional support need, our team will work with you to understand what support may help you get the most from your apprenticeship.
You can tell us about any support needs during your enrolment, or speak to your tutor at any point during your programme.
Support could include:
* Additional one-to-one support
* Adjustments to learning activities and resources
* Extra support with English and maths
* Assistive technology or accessible resources
* Additional time or adjustments for assessments, where eligible
* Help with organisation, planning and study skills
* Working with your employer to support you in the workplace
* Support with preparing for End-Point Assessment
Already Have an EHCP or Previous Support?
Let us know during your enrolment and provide any relevant information you have. This helps us understand your needs and put appropriate support in place as early as possible.

Safeguarding & Wellbeing
our safety and wellbeing are important to us.
We want every apprentice to feel safe, supported and able to succeed. If something is worrying you — whether it relates to your apprenticeship, workplace or personal circumstances — there are people at Knights Training Academy you can talk to.
You can speak to us about:
* Mental health and emotional wellbeing
* Bullying, harassment or discrimination
* Concerns about your workplace
* Online safety
* Abuse, exploitation or neglect
* Relationships or problems at home
* Financial or personal difficulties
* Radicalisation or extremism concerns
* Anything that is making you feel unsafe or affecting your learning
If you are worried about yourself or someone else, please tell us as soon as possible.
You can speak to your tutor or contact our safeguarding team directly. Concerns will be handled sensitively and shared only where necessary to help keep you or someone else safe.
Your Rights & Responsibilities
An apprenticeship is a partnership between you, your employer and Knights Training Academy.
As an apprentice, you are both an employee and a learner. Your employer and KTA have responsibilities to support you, but you also have an important role in making your apprenticeship successful.
What You Can Expect
As an apprentice, you should:
* Have a contract of employment
* Receive at least the National Minimum Wage you are legally entitled to
* Receive paid holiday and other employment rights
* Be given appropriate time during your normal working hours for apprenticeship training
* Have opportunities to develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours required for your apprenticeship
* Receive appropriate support and supervision in the workplace
* Have regular progress reviews with your employer and KTA
* Work in a safe and supportive environment
* Be treated fairly and with respect
What We Expect From You
Throughout your apprenticeship, you should:
* Attend and engage with your scheduled training
* Complete learning and agreed actions on time
* Attend progress reviews
* Communicate regularly with your tutor
* Take responsibility for your own development
* Record and evidence your learning where required
* Follow your employer’s workplace policies and procedures
* Let us know if you’re struggling or something changes
* Work towards the targets agreed with your tutor and employer

End-Point Assessment & Completing Your Apprenticeship
Everything you do throughout your apprenticeship is preparing you for successful completion.
Towards the end of your programme, you’ll work with your tutor and employer to make sure you’re ready to complete your End-Point Assessment (EPA).
EPA is an independent assessment that confirms you have developed the knowledge, skills and behaviours required for your apprenticeship.
Getting Ready for EPA
Before you move to End-Point Assessment, we’ll make sure you understand:
* What your EPA will involve
* What evidence or work needs to be completed
* How each part of the assessment works
* What you need to do to successfully achieve
* Any reasonable adjustments you may be entitled to
* How to prepare and practise for your assessment
Gateway
Before your EPA can begin, you’ll go through Gateway.
This is the point where you, your employer and Knights Training Academy agree that you have completed the required training and are ready for your final assessment.
Your tutor will guide you through this process — you won’t suddenly be sent for assessment without knowing what to expect.
After Your Apprenticeship
Successfully completing your apprenticeship is only the beginning.
Depending on your programme and career goals, your next step could include:
* Progressing into a more senior role
* Taking on additional responsibilities
* Moving onto a higher-level apprenticeship
* Completing further professional qualifications
* Applying for professional membership
* Continuing your career development with your employer
If Something Changes During Your Apprenticeship
Things can change — the important thing is to speak to us early.
We understand that circumstances can change during an apprenticeship. A change at work or in your personal circumstances does not always mean you have to leave your programme.
If something changes, contact your tutor or the learner support team as soon as possible so we can discuss your options.
Changing Employer
If you leave your current employer but want to continue your apprenticeship, contact us before withdrawing from your programme.
Where possible, we can support you while you look for a new employer and explain what needs to happen for your apprenticeship to continue.
Break in Learning
Sometimes you may need to temporarily pause your apprenticeship due to circumstances such as:
* Long-term illness or absence
* Maternity, paternity or parental leave
* Significant personal circumstances
* Changes affecting your ability to continue training
Where appropriate, a Break in Learning can be agreed, allowing you to pause your apprenticeship and return when you’re ready.
Changes to Your Job
Please tell us if:
* Your job role changes
* Your responsibilities significantly change
* Your working hours change
* You move to another employer
* You are made redundant
* You are considering leaving your job
We need to make sure your employment continues to give you the opportunity to develop the skills required for your apprenticeship.
